About theCalico.com Family

David Clark

David Clark is a software developer, specializing in database-driven applications and websites. The Resume link to the left is for him. The Software section of this site is a posting board for code samples, classes, and ideas that he has created, and more importantly, found to be useful, in his career.

David was born in Norwich, CT and attended the University of Connecticut, where he earned a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. He then moved to Pittsburgh to continue studying mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University, but soon realized this was not the path he needed to be on. He left school to join the IT word and has been there since.

Valerie Clark

Valerie Clark is an economist by training, and an incurable literary addict.

Valerie was born in Murray, UT and also attended the University of Connecticut for a period of time, but received her B.S. in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh.

Aidan and Riley Clark

Aidan and Riley Clark were born in 2002 and 2004, respectively. So far they haven't had much to post, but we're reserving space on the site for them when they want to start.

Pumpkin - the calico cat herself

So, where does the name theCalico.com come from? Well, there's actually a fifth "person" that this site is home to - a calico cat, named Pumpkin. The image at the bottom of this site is her, battling courageously against a rubber band, and here are few others:

Life in Utah

The Clarks moved from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Salt Lake City, Utah in, July 2001. Our new home has a lot more sunshine, taller mountains, and much simpler navigation (no more confusion of Sixth Ave. and Sixth St. for instance). Below are a few of the more scenic pictures from some of our earlier hikes in Utah:
